Office of international affairs (OIA) hosts “Happy hour” social event for international students of 2017 Fall on September 22nd. Dr. Ku, director of International student section, greeted students with welcome remarks on behalf of Professor Lee, Dean of OIA. He also introduced the staff of OIA. New students of Fall semester are all invited. Students from China, HK, Macao, Japan, Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, Mongolia, France, Czech, Netherland, Poland, Austria, etc., a total of 55 (including 6 official students) joined today’s event.
The purpose of today’s event is to expand the lateral connection between new students, and through the supports from OIA staff, provides counseling and helps to solve student’s problem. Students use Mandarin, English and other languages to communicate with each other, and break the barriers of nationality and limitation of languages. This event provides a platform for students to know and get familiar with one another. Numbers of participant and lively discussion reflect the success of this event. OIA hopes students cherish the friendships they built here and remain the ties afterward.
For the “Happy Hour” events to come, OIA would like to invite senior official international students to participate, and share their experiences of studying abroad with the new ones. Also, OIA is planning international events alike, and would open to our Taiwanese students to join. OIA expects that these events would facilitate the communications between Taiwanese students and international ones, and they would contribute to the building of international campus.
